Hola a todos. Os presentamos a URKA. Es una perra de aguas española que hemos adoptado. Tiene la misma edad que el Xinver. No puede tener perritos porque sus sistema reproductor no se ha desarrollado bien, así que la hemos incorporado a la familia y de momento todo va perfecto. Parece muy diferente del Xinver porque está recién "pelada".

She can't breed because her reproductive organs have not developed properly, so she is now part of our family. Everything goes fine, at the moment. She looks quite different from Xinver because she's had a fresh haircut.

Y ahora hemos de daros una mala noticia. Nuestra gatita TRIS murió el sábado pasado. No sabíamos exactamente su edad, pues estuvo 8 años en la calle, al menos, y 5 maravillosos con nosotros. Un fallo renal progresivo. Tuvimos que llevarla al veterinario para que la durmieran...

And now we've got bad news. Our little cat TRIS passed away last Saturday. We didn't know exactly her age. She had been 8 years in the streets, at least, and afterwards 5 wonderful years with us. A total and progressive renal failure. We had to take her to the vet and put her to sleep...

Queridos todos, primero queremos disculparnos por estar ausentes. Nuestras vidas son casi caóticas. Como os dijimos hace poco, queremos cambiarnos a vivir al campo o a algún sitio donde podamos permanecer en el exterior durante el día. Por supuesto, para comprar el nuevo "chaletito", tenemos que vender primero este piso grande... Pensamos que sería muy complicado, in estos días de crisis, pero nos salió un comprador en seguida, anunque las negociaciones están siendo largas. Es probable que el piso se venda, por lo que hemos estado muy liados empaquetanto todo y viendo un montón de sitios para trasladarnos. El pobre Jefe ha dejado (temporalmente) sus estudios y las asignaturas que tenía para junio las preparará para septiembre.
Hay muchas dudas aún: ¿qué haremos con los peces?, ¿habrá lavadora y mobiliario en el sitio nuevo? ¿Conexión a internet? Esperamos poder contároslo en pocas semanas ( o dias... )
Gracias por estar ahí.

Dear all, firstly we want to apologize for being missed. Our lives are almost a chaos. As we recently told you, we wanted to move to the countryside or to a place where we could stay outside during the day. Of course, to buy a new little "cottage", we have to sell this big flat... We thought it would be very difficult, in these days of crisis, but we had a buyer very soon, although the negotiations are taking a long time. It's probable that our flat is sent, so we have been very busy packing and packing and seeing lots of houses to move. Our poor Boss has left (temporarily) his studies and the subjects he had to take exams on in June have been delayed until September.

Queridos todos, sentimos mucho no disponer de mucho tiempo ahora para "bloguear". Aunque "nuestros" exámenes han acabado (con buenos resultados para el Jefe, no es tan pavo como parece...), la cuestión es que ahora tiene un examen de algo diferente, a la vez, y está un poco sobrepasado. Además, hemos hablado seriamente con él y hemos decidido cambiar de casa. Sí, queremos irnos al campo. Pero es algo muy complicado ahora, por la crisis económica... Ya veremos.

Hola a todos, así es como el Jefe hizo el pastel de cumpleaños de pescado. Ingredientes: pescado, huevos, surimi ("carne de cangrejo), tomate frito, mayonesa, nata líquida, lechuga picada, especias. Se cuece el pescado, se mezcla con el resto de cosas. El surimi es la base del pastel. Después se cuece 25 minutos en el microondas (no a máxima potencia). Se deja enfriar y se decora.
Una bonita fiesta. Tris tambien tuvo su delicia.

FELIZ CUMPLEAÑOS BYRON

Hi everybody, this is how our Boss made our fish-birthday-pie. Ingredients: fish, eggs, surimi, fried tomato, mayonnaise, milk cream, minced lettuce, spices. You have to boil the fish, and mixed it with the rest of things. Surimi is the bottom of the pie. Next, you have to cook it in the microwave oven for 25 minutes (not at maximum power). You let it cool and you decorate it.

We had a nice party. Tris also had her good food.

Hola, hemos montado otro acuario más pequeño porque los peces han empezado a dar a luz a un montón de "bebitos". Hemos puesto una gamba con ellos para que los cuide. Creemos que hay más en camino (ver última foto).
PD: ¡la gamba es totalmente pacífica, no se come a los bebitos!
Hi, we have built up a smaller aquarium because our golden fishes have been giving birth to a lot of "babies". We put a lady shrimp with them to take care of them. We think that more are on the way (see last pic).
PS: shrimps are very kind "persons", they don't ever eat baby-fishes!

Queridos todos, el jefe está muy liado con los exámenes. Pero le animamos a mantenerse en contacto con vosotros todos. Él dice que ha habido dos grandísimas interpreters en la música pop: Judy Garland y Barbra Streisand. Sí, ha habido otras muchas, muy buenas. Pero estas dos han sido ( y son) las reinas de la intenpretación cuando cantan, aparte de tener un control perfecto de la voz. Las dos han cantado muchos estilos y hablar de pop es hablar sólo de una parte de su fantástico trabaco. Una vez, hace mucho, en noviembre de 1963, cantaron juntas en un especial para TV, increíbles.
Hoy, entre los cientos de canciones que han hecho suyas, hemos elegido una, dedicada a todos los que siguen peleando y creyendo.. Es Barbra en 1993 (traducción al final).
Especialmente dedicado a un nuevo posteador, que se está peleando contra el blogger un montón: Depasomiro.

Look at this! A big family of cuddly toys. Every one has his own story. They have been brought by our Boss from all over Europe, when he made his journeys. Now he doesn't travel abroad because... hmm... of us. It's more complicated and we do it inside the country.

These are the smiling flowers from Sweden, and the Bear was the first to come, its name is Alfons from Krakow (and it's the only one who has a name, because he was the first).

Pero Xinver tiene su propia pequeña familia. El leoncito era de Byron pero se lo dio al Xinver en adopción. Ya tiene tres años y ha pasado algunos arreglos.
But Xinver has his own little family. The little lion was Byron's child but he gave it to Xinver in adoption. It's now three years old and it has suffered some mending now and then.

Este pato parlante estaba muy malherido. Sin ojos, sólo una ala. El Xinver estaba preocupado.
This talking duck was seriously injured. No eyes, only one wing left... Xinver seemed worried.

Después de un apaño general y una esterilización (en la lavadora) el pato fue sometido a cirugía ocular.
After a general fixing and sterilization (in the washing machine) the duck underwent ocular surgery.

Finalmente, la famlia feliz. Más adelante buscaremos un nuevo ojo para el leoncito. Son muy importantes para Xinver. Aunque normalmente campan libremente por la casa, hay dos momentos fundamentales en los que Xinver los busca: cuando el Jefe llega del trabajo (siempre le trae uno) y cuando es la hora de ir a dormir por la noche.
Finally, the happy family. Later on, we'll look for a new eye for the little lion. They are very important to Xinver. Although they usually "live" freely around the house, there are two crucial moments when Xinver looks for one of them: when the Boss arrives from work (he always brings one to me) and when it's time to go to sleep at night.

We had to install some machines: an air pump, a heater and a filter.
Besides, we put gravel on the bottom, we filled it with water and put some natural plants.
En este punto, el conjunto tuvo que estar varias semanas funcionando para que el ambiente fuera adecuado.
At this point, the complex had to be running for several weeks, just to reach a proper environment.

El Jefe está muy ocupado con sus nuevos estudios, pero hoy lo hemos sacado a pasear un rato largo por el sitio preferido de los conejos. Exploramos la zona y encontramos en seguida las entradas de sus madrigueras, pero como no querían jugar con nosotros, pensamos en otras cosas. Así que jugamos a perseguirnos un buen rato y a destruir palos, que es uno de mis preferidos. Curioso que había muchas mariposas por ahí.
Por cierto, la semana pasada fue el cumpleaños del Jefe, en el próximo post os mostraremos lo que le hemos regalado.

Hi everybody.
The Boss is quite busy with his new studies, but today we have taken him out to a long walk by the rabbits' resort. We scanned the area and we found the rabbit holes quickly. Since they didn't want to play with us, we thought about playing other games. As you can see below, we played to run after each other for a long while and to 'destroy' sticks, which is one of my favourites. It was amazing that there were many butterflyes around!
By the way, last week was The Boss' birthday... In the next post we'll show you what we have given to him.

Hi everybody. We drove back home some days ago, but we still want to share some more pictures with you. One day we went to the nearest big city, which is Ávila and it's surrounded by city walls, as you can see. It's a very beautiful town to visit. However, many people wanted to take photos from us!

El pero de aguas español es una raza muy interesante (Xinver). No sólo es un perro pastor sino también un perro que entrenaban los marineros para multitud de tareas. Cuando veía alguna oveja o vaca..., no lo podía evitar.
The Spanish Waterdog (Xinver) is an interesting breed. Not only it's a sheepdog but also a dog trained by the sailors to do lots of things. When he saw any sheep or any cows.... he couldn't help it.

Aunque el pastor de Brie (Byron) noes un perro de agua específicamente, le gusta jugar en ella. Al final se dio cuenta que es un excelente nadador.
Although Briards (Byron) are not specifically waterdogs, they like to play in the water. He finally discovered he's an excellent swimmer.

En fin, adiós montañas (Sierra de Gredos). Esperamos volver pronto, probablemente en enero.

El sitio por el que hemos estado estos días trae recuerdos a nuestro Jefe. Cuando era pequeño (digamos entre los años 60 y 70) solía ir con su familia a estas montañas a pasar los domingos. Entonces había agua por todas partes, corriendo por aquellos canales por toda la montaña. De hecho se veían casas preciosas, construidas en el siglo XIX como parte de un lugar de recreo acuático. Parece que la zona ya era conocida por sus manantiales en el siglo XI, explotada por los árabes inicialmente (que formaron parte importantísima de nuestra historia). Posteriormente, en la primera parte del siglo XX, fue un sanatorio para niños con tuberculosis, y por eso se le llamó El Preventorio.
Ahora todo es distinto. Definitivamente, los acuíferos se han secado por la especulación y el desarrollo excesivo.
En las fotos podéis ver lo que era y lo que es ahora. Triste. Abandonado a su suerte.

The places we've been in the past few days brought memories to our Boss. When he was a child -let's say in the late 60s and early 70s- his family used to go for a picnic to these mountains, on Sundays. Then, there was water everywhere, running by those canals all over the mountain. In fact, some nice houses could be seen, built up in the XIX century as part of a famous water resort. It seems that the area is known for its watersprings since the XV century, exploited by arabians initially (who were an essential part of our history). Later, in first part of the XX century, it became a sanatory for children suffering tuberculosis, that's why it was called The Preventory (from disease prevention)
Now it's all different. Once and for all, subterranean aquifers has been run dry because of overdevelopment and speculation.
In the pics you can see what it was... and what it is... It's sad. All abandoned, neglected, deserted...

Sí, cansados de caminar por las calles, fuimos a dar un paseo en coche a la búsqueda de las montañas. Apenas a 8 km de casa encontramos un camino que llevaba a ellas, parecía una buena opción así que nos pusimos en movimiento. Alcanzamos la cima y pudimos ver unos paisajes estupendos.
Yes, tired of walking the streets, we went to a drive looking for mountains... Hardly 8 km from home we found a track leading to the mountains, it seemed a good choice and we set in motion. We reached the top of the hill and could see very nice landscapes.

Hola amigos. Como era de suponer, la previsión estaba equivocada, jaja. Llovió ligeramente el sábado, un ratito, aunque hacía bochorno. Y eso fue todo. ¡Queremos el frío ya! Es curioso, para muchos de vosotros tener buen tiempo significa sol, para nosotros es lo contrario.
Hoy vamos a llevar al Byron a su criadora, es la mejor para bañarlo y peinarlo muy bien.

But this is my own tattoo... It's just a number in my left groin. Every dog here, in Spain, is supposed to have a unique identification: it can be a microchip (... not microcheap), it can be a tattooed number. I've got both.

Mejorando - Getting better

Hola amigos. Estamos contentos de decir que el Byron está mejor. Parece que ha superado la enteritis y poco a poco volvemos a nuestra dieta normal BARF (todo crudo). Además, no va a continuar con el tratamiento antiinflameorio, de momento, ya que está caminando con ese tipíco estilo de los Briards (con la cola alta) en vez de arrastrando las patorras.

Hi, friends. We're happy to say that Byron's getting better. It seems he's got over the enteritis and we're gradually back to our usual BARF diet (bone and raw food). Besides, he's not going to go on taking antiimflammatory pills, for the moment, since he's walking with that typical Briard style (tail up) instead of slouching.

Y Buenas Noticias!
El Jefe nos ha dicho que la última semana se septiembre viajaremos a uno de nuestros sitios preferidos: Grdos, las grandes montañas, con ríos por todas partes. Está como a 550 km de aquí pero vale la pena.

The Boss told us that the last week of September we're going to travel to one of our favourite place: Gredos, the great Mountains, with rivers everywhere. It's abour 550 Km away from home but it's worthy:

Parte médico - Medical report

Todos sabemos que hay gente fuerte y gente débil. Con los gatos y perros ocurre lo mismo. Aunque Byron es un "chico grande" con una fuerza muscular importante, sin embargo, es débil, en cuanto a la salud. Si lo comparamos con el Xinver, Byron padece todo tipo de problemas, desde el más simple hasta el más importante.

Hemos tenido que suspender el tratamiento de forma temporal por un problema nuevo: gastroenteritis. Probablemente viene por el agua que ha bebido estos días en el campo; sí, es motivo suficiente para él para causarle esto.

La noche pasada no hemos dormido nada, tuvimos que salir a las 4:00 am y a las 6:30 am porque Byron nunca hace sus necesidades en casa (ni Xinver) incluso aunque tenga diarrea. Después hay que limpiarle (ay, su pelo largo). O sea, que el Jefe parece un zombie hoy.

Por otro lado, está caminando mucho mejor, seguramente por que está guardando reposo. Así que lo tenemos bajo objersación para evitar que se deshidrate. Ha comido un poco de arroz con pollo hervido que el Jefe le ha preparado y ahora está durmiendo en su sitio… a la derecha de la cama.

El Jefe dice que los animales, por supuesto, sienten dolor, pero no sufren o, al menos, no sufren "de más", eso es algo reservado a los humanos. Él sufre mucho cuando nos ve en estas circunstancias… Es algo que todo mamá y papá sabe, ¿no?

We all know there are strong and weak people. With our cats or dogs it happens the same. Although Byron is a "big boy" with significant physical strength, he's somewhat weak, in terms of health. If we compare him to Xinver, Byron suffers from every kind of problems and Xinver doesn't, from the simplest to the most serious.

The antiimflammatory therapy has been temporarily stopped because of an additional trouble: gastroenteritis. It probably comes from the water he has drunk these days in the country; yes, that's enough for him to cause such a problem...

So, last night nobody has slept a wink... We had to go out at 4:00 a.m. and at 6:30 a.m. because Byron never does a poop at home (Xinver neither) even having diarrhea. We had to clean him afterwards (ay, he's hairy)... That is to say... The Boss looks like a zombie today.

On the other side, he's walking much better, surely because of the rest he's having.

OK, he'll be under observation to avoid dehydration. He's eaten some boiled chicken with rice that the Boss has cooked for him and now he's sleeping, in his place, at the right side of the bed.

The Boss says animals, of course, feel pain, but don't suffer or, at least, don't feel surplus suffering, that's something for humans. He suffers a lot seeing him (us, anyway) under bad conditions... This is something every mom and dad knows... Isn't it?

Hola, hemos estado un par de días en el campo. Un poco raro: niebla a primera hora de la mañana, mucho calor durante el día, hasta las 8 de la tarde. pero hemos podido pasear.
El problema es Byron, que está cojeando de nuevo, parece que tiene bastante dolor porque anda despacio.
Es la pu...ñetera displasia de cadera otra vez. Así que ha empezado a tomar antiinflamatorios, al menos durante 15 días, pero si no mejora en una semana el Jefe lo llevará a la veterinaria... Veremos.

Hi, we've been in the country for a couple of days. It's been strange: foggy in the early morning, very hot afterwards... until 8:00 p.m. But we have had some nice walks.
The problem now is Byron, who is limping again, he seems to feel serious pain because he walks slowly...

Este era Bollo, un nombre raro para un gato, pero es lo que parecía cuando era un cachorrito. Era un dulce gato himalayo que vivió 8 años con el Jefe, nació en 1993.

This was Bollo, an odd name for a cat... it means "a piece of cake", "a bun"... that's what he looked like when he was a little cat... He was a sweet himalayan cat, he lived with our Boss for 8 years, he was born in 1993.

Los siguienes 8 años de su vida estuvo con la mamá de nuestro Jefe, o sea, nuestra "abuela". Solíamos verlo cuando íbamos a visitarla durante este tiempo.
The next 8 years of his life he stayed with our Boss' mom, that is, our grandma... We used to see Bollo when we went to see her in the last two years.

El pasado viernes día 14 de agosto tuvimos que despedirnos de él.
Ya tenía 16 años y padecía de los riñones. No se pudo hacer nada salvo ayudarle a irse.

Hola amigos... Queremos enseñaros nuestra habitación, nuestro escondite, nuestra guarida. La casa en que vivimos es grande y tenemos libertad para ir donde queramos (incluso dentro de los armarios... Tris, por supuesto). Pero a la hora de dormir, lo hacemos todos en el mismo sitio.
Este es el dormitorio principal, hay una gran cama en medio, donde duerme el Jefe... como veis, Byron está en el suelo a la derecha de la cama y Xinver a la izquierda. Son nuestras posiciones fijas.

Hi friends... We'd like to show us our room, our hideaway, our den. This house we're living in is large, and we are always free to go wherever we want to (even inside the wardrobes... Tris, of course); but when it's time to bed, we do it in the same place! This is the main bedroom, there is a big bed in the middle, where the Boss sleeps... Al otro lado de la puerta del baño hay una maleta roja. Hace más de un año, cuando volvimos de unas vacaciones, el Jefe la dejó ahí, antes de sacar las cosas, pero Tris decidió firmemente que esa sería su cama. Y así fue. Desde entonces duerme encima.
At the other side of the bathroom door there is a red suitcase. More than a year ago, when we came back from our holidays, the Boss left there the case, waiting to be unpacked, but Tris was firmly determined to make it its bed. And so it was. Since then she sleeps thereon.

Xinver prefiere el suelo, pero algunas veces salta a la cama y se queda un tiempo con el Jefe. Pero no suele cambiar su posición en toda la noche.

Tris es más cambiante. Como gata..., vive la noche de otro modo. A veces viene y va, come, araña, etc... Cuando sube a la cama, se pone a la derecha del Jefe.

Como veis... Nunca le dejamos solo.

Y And Byron... He doesn't like the bed at all. The Boss has to insist a lot to get him up just for a minute for some hugs... Byron takes care of all of us and sleeps here or in the corridor next to the bedroom, where he can control every movement in the house.

Hola amigos... Bobby, de Kind Hearts, nos pregunta el significado de Xinver, o cómo se pronuncia o deletrea.
Bien, cuando vino con nosotros... vedlo: ojos azules y pelo rizado, con dos meses de edad. Nos dimos cuenta que era un poco "sinvergüenza"... El nombre era largo y le llamamos Sinver. Sin embargo, fonéticamente, en español, si relajas la pronunciación, en vez de Sinver suena Chinver, o Shinver quizá. Además, esta manera de decirlo se corresponde con nuestro idioma local: el valenciano, en el que este sonido se escribe con una X. Por eso, a veces es Sinver con s pura y otras Xinver... Siempre responde.

Algunas tardes, justo antes de ponerse el sol, cogemos el coche y nos vamos un sitio muy peculiar que esta cerca de cadsa. Está al lado de una entrada de autopista. No hay nadie y es seguro porque es un terreno grande y vallado.

Hola amigos. Nos disculpamos porque estamos en una especie de hibernación paradójica, ya que es verano. Pero no podemos soportar este calor terrible y tenemos que permanece dentro de casa casi todo el día salvo por la mañana o por la noche cuando baja la temperaura.
Esta tarde hubo una catástrofe, estuvimos a punto del desastre (pero no tuvimos la culpa). El disco duro de 500 Gb cayó al suelo y no funciona. Hemos de decir que hay un responsable, por supuesto, de este hecho: el Jefe...
La cuestión es que contenía montones de fotografías, incluso de cuando no habíamos nacido, 1993 o así. El Jefe las había escaneado.
Por suerte, habíamos hecho otra copia de todas ellas y estaban a buen recaudo. Por eso queremos postear un par de las primeras fotos del Byron a la edad de 2 meses cuando vivía con su mamá en la casa de su criadora.
Buenas noticias: nos iremos de vacaciones al final de septiembre una semana o así, a la montaña. ¡Bien!

Good news: we will be on holidays at the end of September, we will go for a week or so to the mountains again. Hooray!

Qué calor - What a heat

Hola a todos. Aquí veis el reciente corte de pelo del Xinver (feo, feo), el pelo del Byron no se debe cortar nunca. Pero os sorprendería ver cómo Byron soporta el calor mucho mejor que Xinver. Creemos que es porque el manto del Xinver es como lana. De todos modos, no podemos salir cuando hay sol, sólo para cortos paseítos de pis. Lo que hacemos es salir por la noche.

El Jefe tiene los resultados de todos sus exámenes de inglés, español y literatura y todo ha ido OK, aunque tendrá que estudiar un poco para aprobar una parte de una materia en septiembre.

Creemos que estaremos en casa todo julio y todo agosto porque hace el mismo calor en todas partes y el Jefe dice que prefiere ir de vacaciones al final de septiembre cuando las temperaturas empiezan a caer.

Hallo everybody. Here you can see Xinver's fresh haircut (ugly, ugly), Byron's hair must be kept during all his lifetime. But you'd be surprise to see how Byron can stand the heat much better than Xinver.We think it's because Xinver's fur is like wool. Anyway, we can't go out when the sun is on the horizon, only for short pee walkies. What we do, is doing it at night...

The Boss has the results of all his examinations dealing with English, Spanish and Literatura. Everything went OK, although the has to study a little for a part of a subject in September.

We think we will stay home in July and in August because it's very hot everywhere and the Boss says he prefers to go on holidays at the end of September, when the temperatures begin to fall.

El Jefe siempre sitió fascinatión por los felinos: tigres, leones, pumas, leopardos, panteras... Por eso le gustaba La Pantera Rosa y siempre tuvo gatos. Más tarde, cuando se hizo mayor, descubrió el lince. Hay linces en Europa y en Asia, pero en España hay un felino distinto, salvaje: el lince ibérico. Es la mitad de grande que el resto de linces, y es un animal perfecto.

The Boss has always felt fascination for felines: tigers, lions, pumas, leopards, panthers... That's why he liked The Pink Panther Show and that's why he always had cats. Later, when he grew up, he discovered the lynx. You can find the lynx in Europe and Asia, but in Spain there is a different big wild cat: the iberian lynx. It is twice smaller than the others, and it's a perfect animal.

Motivos de su desaparición: 1) Destrucción de su hábitat (por los humanos). 2) Disminución de la población de su principal fuente de alimentación (conejo) por la mixomatosis y otras enfermedades. 3) La caza furtiva. 4) La endogamia, por quedar menos de 100 ejemplares.

The reasons of the risk of extinction are as follows: 1) The destruction of its habitat (by humans), 2) The decrease in the population of its main source of food (rabbits) due to mixomatosis and other illnesses. 3) The poachers. 4) The endogamy, since there are less than 100 felines left.

Hay programas en marcha en España, en cuanto a su recuperación. En pocas palabras,

Hola amigos, buenas noticias. Tras varias formalidades, nuestro amigo ha podido adoptar este majestuoso galgo. Sus horas malas han terminado. Es muy joven, apenas tiene un año y pocos meses, se comporta muybien con Frida (la Chihuahua) y con Paris (la gata que es su hermana ahora). Sabemos que será muy feliz, al fin.
Estas son sus primeras fotos. Nos gustaría conocerle pero no estamos seguros: Byron es un macho alfa (dominante) y ELLIOT (que es su nombre) parece que también.

Hi friends, good news!! After some formalities, our friend could adopt this stately "galgo" (greyhound). His bad times are finally over. He's very young, he's only one year and some months old and he's well behaved with Frida (the little Chihuahua) and Paris (the pussy cat that is now his feline sister). We know he'll be happy, at last.
These are the first pictures. We'd like to meet him but we're not sure: Byron is an "alpha" dog and, it seems that ELLIOT (this is his new name) has also a strong personality.

Internet y vacunas

Hola a todos.
Hoy la conexión a internet no quería funcionar. No pudimos postear cuando lo teníamos todo listo. Nuestro Jefe es un cabezota y tras algunas horas de luchar contra el router, el wifi, y todo eso... Aquí estamos. Además hemos mejorado la situación por haber encriptado la conexión inalámbrica, ahora no tendremos intrusos.

Hoy fuimos también a la veterinaria porque al Byron le tocaban las vacunas de la rabia y otros bichos malsanos. Tuvimos que darle galletas todo el tiempo mientras la veterinaria le ponía dos pequeñas inyecciones, pues siempre se queja un montón. Es grandullón pero algo tontaina, jaja.

Ah, echad un vistazo a mi pelo. El Jefe quería dejarlo crecer y crecer pero ya no puedo soportar este calor, así que el viernes tengo peluquería.

Hi everybody. Today our internet connection didn't want to work. We couldn't post when we were ready. Our Boss is quite stubborn and, after several hours fighting against the router, the wifi, the whatever... We're here. Besides, we have improved the circumstances because now we have an encryption, that is, no one can use our wifi as some did before.

Today, we also went to the vet, since it was time for Byron to have his vaccines against rabies and other bad things. We had to give him treats all the time while the vet injected two little amounts of fluid, but he always cries a lot... He's big, but silly, haha.

Ah, take a look at my hair. The Boss wanted to let it grow longer and longer, but I can't stand the heat, so next Friday I'll have a haircut. Greetings.

Hola, los exámenes ya se han acabado, estamos esperando los resultados.
Fuimos a ver a nuestro amigo el Cocker y celebramos nuestros cumpleaños. El Cocker es un año y un mes mayor que Xinver. Es curioso que los tres nacimos en un día 12: Byron en febrero, El Cocker en mayo y Xinver en junio.
El Jefe hizo un pastel de carne que estaba delicioso...
Hi, our examinations are finally over, now we're waiting for the results.
We went to see our friend The Cocker, and we celebrated our birthdays. The Cocker is one year and a month older than Xinver. It's funny that the three of us were born on the 12 day of a month: Byron in February, The Cocker in May, Xinver in June.

Buenas noticias - Good news

Mirad esta foto... El Jefe, algo que parece un lobezno (y soy yo, el Byron, cuando era muy muy pequeño) y mi mamá adoptiva: Choco. Lo aprendí casi todo de ella. Por desgracia, murió el año pasado de un cancer de corazón, cuando teía 10 u 11 años (que es el tiempo que los perros grandes como nosotros permanecemos en este mundo).
El Papá de Choco es un buen amigo nuestro, mi "tío". Gracias a él yo estoy aquí porque mi Jefe no tenía ni idea de perros, ni que decir de lo que era un Briard (Pastor de Brie). Pero cuando conoció a Choci, se dio cuenta de lo buen perro que era y entonces me "buscó".

Look at this pic... The Boss, something like a little wolf (which is me: Byron, when I was very very young), and my foster mom: Choco. I learned all but anything from her. Sadly, whe died last year from heart cancer, when she was about 10-11 years old (this is the time a big dog like ours usually stays in this world).
Choco's Boss is a good friend of ours, my "uncle". Thanks him, I am here, because my Boss had no idea about dogs, needless to say he didn't know what a Briard was. But when he met Choco, he noticed what a wonderful dog she was and he looked for me.

Esta es la pequeña Frida, una Chihuahua. La mascota de nuestro amigo bípedo ahora... Pero la buena noticia es que este amigo ha decidido tener otro perro. Primero quería otra Pastora de Brie, hembra, pero finalmente parece que va a adoptar un galgo, una raza española que cada día es devastada por los cazadores cuando pasa la temporada.

Helado - Ice cream

Hola,

El examen fue muy bien. Tuvimos que traducir al idioma del ladrido un fragmento de una obra teatral de Ben Johnson: Volpone; o el zorro:

"Temo que empezaré a enamorarme

de mi querido yo mismo..."

¡Vaya un tipo egoísta y narcisista! Bueno, es parte de la parodia.

Por supuesto, hubo que desarrollar dos temas sobre Shakespeare.

Gracias a Dios que Xinver estaba allí (en la tonta mente del Jefe, claro) y respondió con propiedad, ya que es un experto en la materia.

Mirad al Xinver mientras estaba concentrado en el asunto. Ya sabéis la cuestión: "ladrar o no ladrar..."

Hemos pensado que Hamlet es un buen nombre para él, así que desde ahora se llamará Xinver Hamlet.

What a selfish and narcissistic guy!! But it’s just a parody.

Of course, we had to develop two questions about Shakespeare.

Thanks God Xinver was there (in the silly Boss’ mind), and he could answer properly, since he's an expert in the field.

Look at Xinver while he was thinking about it, you know: “To bark or not to bark...”

We think that Hamlet is a fine name for him. So, from now on, he’ll be called Xinver Hamlet.

Pero este no era el tema del post... Helados. Nunca los hemos probado, pero hemos insistido e insistido y el Jefe nos ha comprado uno. Veréis, nosotros habitualmente tomamos yogur (desnatado y natural, si tiene sabor no nos gusta). Así que el Jefe compró un helado de yogur con cereales.
But this was not the subject of this post... Ice cream. We have never tasted it, but we insisted more and more and our Boss bought one for us. You see, we usually have yoghourt (low-fat and natural, we don't like savoured yoghourt). So, he brought a yoghourt ice cream.

Pobre Xinver Hamletito... El Jefe se lo temía, que no le iba a gustar. Tampoco le gustan las galletitas. Sólo le gustan los huesos naturales... Quizá lo intentemos otro día.

Hola amigos... Ayer tuvimos el primer examen, sobre Lengua Inglesa. Fue muy muy fácil porque ya sabéis que nosobros ladramos en todos los idiomas. ¿Por qué los bípedos estudian inglés, español, francés o lo que sea? Mejor sería que aprendiérais el lenguaje de los ladridos... Nosotros no tenemos problemas, hablamos con perros (incluso otras especies) de todo el mundo.

Hi friends... Yesterday we took the first examination, the subject was English Language. Oh, it was very very easy because you know we can bark in every language. Why do humans study English, Spanish, French or whatever? You'd rather learn Barkish... We don't have any troubles, we can speak to dogs (even to other species) all over the world.
Anyway, after that, we went to chase rabbits... Don't worry, we can never catch them, but we like to run about and look for their dens...

Hola a todos/as. No nos hemos olvidado de vosotros. Hemos estado ocupados, la semana que viene tenemos algunos exámenes, después habrá más tiempo para escribir, pero queríamos, al menos, visitar vuestros blogs.
Además, el Jefe ha perdido el cargador de la batería de la cámara y no tenemos fotos nuevas que enseñar.

Hola a todos. Últimamente hemos estado muy ocupados, sin tiempo casi para leer como se debe vuestros blogs. "Hemos" tenido mucho trabajo y el Jefe está preparando los exámenes, que tienen lugara finales de mayo. Una de las materias es Literatura Inglesa (Shakespeare todo el tiempo), por eso la otra noche nos dijo: "Vamos a ver esta película: El Rey Lear, es muy interesante y seguro que os gustará". Oh Dios..., en blanco y negro, un rey y dos hijas que son como unas brujas, pero lo más curioso es que la película estaba hablada en ruso !! ¿Podéis creerlo? Shakespeare en ruso. Al menos estaba subtitulado en español (sin más opciones). De todas formas, nos gustó mucho porque no necesitamos leer en absoluto ya que en la película aparecían un montón de perrotes que ladraban en el idioma internacional de los chuchos. Hemos de admitir que nos quedamos dormidos antes del final...
Bueno, es una muy buena película dirigida por GRIGORI KOZINTSEV. El Jefe quiere ver otra versión, que sea en inglés, pero no es fácil encontrar estos viejos DVD.

Hi everybody. Lately, we've been very busy. No time to even read your blogs properly. "We" had had a lot of work and our Boss is preparing his exams, which will take place at the end of May. One of the subjects is English Literature (Shakespear and Shakespeare again), so the other night he said: "let's see this film: King Lear, very interesting, I'm sure you'll like it". Oh God!, black and white, a King and two daughters like witches... But it was funny that the film was spoken in Russian!!! Can you believe it? Shakespeare in Russian. At least, there were subtitles in Spanish (no more options). Anyway, we enjoyed it a lot because we didn't need to read at all because the movie was plenty of big dogs barking in the international language of dogs... But we must admit we fell asleep before the end...
Well, the fil was directed by GRIGORI KOZINTSEV, and it's really good. But the Boss would like to see another version of King Lear (in English)... it's not easy to find these old movies.

Por eso, como hoy es fiesta, le hemos dicho al Jefe que queríamos ir de paseo un buen rato. Cogimos el coche y fuimos a un sitio no muy lejos de casa donde podemos correr en libertad. Hoy hay sol, aunque el tiempo es inestable.
So, as today is holiday, we told him we wanted to go for a long walk. We took the car and we went to a place not far from home where we can run freely. Today it's sunny, altough we have changeable weather.

Ayer cepillaron al Byron (lo hizo el Jefe mismo), por eso está tan guapo aquí.
Yesterday, Byron had a hair brushing (the Boss himself did it) and he looks handsome here.

Por último, queremos enviar un pequeño mensaje de esperanza a todo el mundo en esta comunidad virtual nuestra, respecto a la puñetera nueva gripe. El Jefe trata con esos temas en su trabajo y hay muchas cosas que discutir. Pero esperamos que todo acabe pronto y que el mundo pueda vivir de nuevo.
Finally, we want to send a little message of hope to everyone in this big virtual community of ours, regarding to the new fucking flue (sorry). The Boss deals with this issue in his job and there are uncountable facts to discuss, but we hope it all goes away soon and the world may begin to live again.

Hola a todos, hemos estado haciendo limpieza y ordenando nuestros juguetes y Byron encontró éste, una especie de cosa que le vuelve loco.
Hi everybody, we've been clearing up and putting away our toys and Byron found this one, which is a kind of thing that makes him "crazy".

Estamos muy contentos porque nuestro amigo El cocker nos hizo una visita y se quedó un par de días. Le queremos mucho y, aunque es el más pequeño, tiene mucha personalidad... Es muy terco (caborro decimos aquí).
We are quite happy because our friend The Cocker came for a visit and stayed for a couple of days. We love him very much and, although he's the smallest, he has a great personality... He is the sttuborn.

Estos dos tienen prácticamene la misma edad y se criaron juntos.
These two ones have almost the same age, and they have been brought up together.

Hola queremos agradecer a nuestra amiga Petardy este reconocimiento que es muy especial porque lo ha creado ella misma y simboliza el paso por su blog y por ese pedacito de su vida; y se inspira en el Mago de Oz, una película y fábula maravillosa.
Hi, we want to say thanks to a friend of ours: Pedardy. Her award is very special because she herself created it for every blogger. It's a symbol of the walks we are allowed to enjoy by her blog and her life. It's inspired in The Wizard of Oz, a wonderful film.

También recogimos estos otros y nos invitan a reflexionar sobre por qué la vida es grande... Eso lo haremos mañana, porque queremos pensarlo bien.

En otro orden de cosas, deciros que el Byron está ya bien. Aquí estoy yo dando cuenta de la paella del otro día, que estaba buenísima.
On the other hand, Byron is OK (his ears). Here I am eating the paella the Boss cooked the other day. It was yummy yummy.

Aunque algunos días está lloviendo, y mucho, parece que la primavera está, definitivamente, entre nosotros.

Y queremos dedicar a Petardy, y a todos, esta canción. Pensábamos que habíamos oído ya todo respecto a Over the rainbow. Por supuesto la maravillosa Judy Garland fue la maestra. Pero esta versión nos sorprendió muchísimo. Aparentemente es una versión como las demás, pero su segunda parte tiene una fuerza asombrosa. Eva Cassidy es muy poco conocida aquí, una voz increíble, una manera de tocar personal... Nunca publicó un disco en vida, murió muy joven de cáncer de piel.
We'd like to dedicate to Petardy, and everybody, this song. We thought we had listened to Over the rainbow from every point of view. Of course, a wonderful Judy Garland still is the ruler. But this cover was a great surprise. It seems it's like any other version, although the second part raises with an amazing power. Eva Cassidy is not known here: an incredible voice, a particular way of playing... No record was released when she was alive, she died young from skin cancer.

Hola, hoy fuimos al veterinario otra vez para que miraran el oido del Byron y está muco mejor. Ahora hay que ponerle unas gotas durante 7 días. No es fácil, no le gusta nada.
Hi, today we went to the vet again to check Byron's otitis and he's getting better, so we have to pour a few drops of this drug into his ear for 7 days. It's not easy..., he doesn't like it.

Aquí estamos en el garaje. Mirad las orejas del Byron, están erguidas, mirando hacia arriba, eso significa que no le duele.
Here we are inside the parking garage. Look at Byron's ears, they're UP, pointing upwards, that means he is not in pain.

De vuelta a casa estábamos cansados y nos tumbamos un rato.
Back home we were a little tired, we had a rest.

Mi leoncito... bueno, la próxima vez que vayamos al veterinario lo llevaremos.
My little lion ... well, we'll take it to the vet the next time...

Y mañana el Jefe ha dicho que hará paella para todos, mmm. De carne esta vez.
The Boss told us that tomorrow he's going to cook Paella for everybody, mmm. This time with meat...

Byron enfermo - Byron is sick

Hola, Xinver escribiendo. Ha estado lloviendo un montón otra vez y no hemos podido salir al campo ni correr como estamos acostumbrados. Así que tuvimos que quedarnos en casa todo el día.
Hi, Xinver writing. It has been raining a lot again and we couldn't go to the countryside nor run freely, as we are used to. So we had to stay at home almost all day.

Ayer por la tarde, Byron empezó a sacudirse la cabeza con fuerza y pensamos que le dolería el oído. ¿Cuál de ellos? Imposible saber. Por eso lo llevamos en seguida al veterinario y tenía otitis en el oído izquiero. Ya está con tratamiento. Además, no quiso comer nada por la noche ni tampoco esta mañana temprano (yo, por supuesto, SÍ). Estaba mal y con náuseas y sus tripas se oían a distancia. A las 5 de la mañana tuvimos que sacarlo porque estaba inquieto, pero afortunadamente no tenía gastroenteritis. Volvimos a casa, hacía frío.

Yesterday evening Byron began to shake his head violently and we thought he should have some pain in the ear. Which one? Impossible to know... So we took him to the vet quickly and she observed otitis in his left ear. So he is under treatment. Besides, the didn't want to eat anything yesterday night nor this morning for breakfast (... of course I DID). He felt sick and nauseous and his guts could be heard at a distance... At 5 o'clock in the morning we had to take him out because he was awake and restless, but fortunately he was not suffering from gastroenteritis, too. We went back home, it was very cold...

A mediodía había sol y salimos de nuevo. Se encontraba mejor. Lo sé porque corrió tras de mí como siempre. Más tarde el Jefe le preparó arroz y pollo hervido y, finalmente comió algo (yo, por supuesto, TAMBIÉN).
At noon, it was sunny and we were out again, he was feeling better, I know it because he ran after me as always... Later, the Boss cooked something for him (boiled chicken and rice) and he finally ate (of course, I DID, TOO).

Esperamos que se ponga bien muy pronto. Por eso estoy aquí cuidándolo, ¡es tan pequeño!
We hope he gets fine very soon. That's why I am taking care of him..., he's so small!

La Gran Concha - The Big Shell

Hola a todos, una vez que Pedro ha recibido nuestras conchas ya podemos explicar el significado de la concha grade. Soy yo, Byron, quien os cuenta.
Hi everybody. Once Pedro has received our conchas (shells) we are ready to explain the meaning of the big one. Ok, it's Byron who writes now.Santiago fue uno de los doce apóstoles, y se cree que sus restos descansan en Santiado de Compostela, hoy día una gran ciudad en Galicia (al noroeste de España). Por eso, desde la edad media, la gente venía de toda Europa caminando para hacer sus ofrendas al santo. Esta es una tradición que aún permanece viva y se puede ver gente haciendo el viaje durante todo el año.
Santiago (James) was one of the twelve apostols, and it is believed that his bones rest in Santiago de Compostela, nowadays a big town in Galicia (Northwest of Spain). So, since the Middle Ages, people from all over Europe went walking there to make their offers to the saint. This is a tradition that is still alive and we can see people going there all year round.

Hace no mucho tiempo, cuando yo tenía un año (ahora tres) y el Xinver aún no había nacido, el Jefe decidió ir a Santiago. Si quieres ser un peregrino de verdad debes ir allí andando, y ha de ser una distancia larga (más de 100 km). Cuando empiezas el viaje, te dan una tarjeta personal en la que tienes que solicitar que te sellen por donde pasas, como signos del viaje. Así, esta es la prueba de que has ido a pie (también se puede hacer en bicicleta o a caballo).
Not so many long ago, when I was just a year old (now I am three) but Xinver wasn't been born yet, the Boss was determined to travel to Santiago. If you want to be a real pilgrim you must get there walking, and you must walk a long distance (more than 100 Km). When you start, you are provided with a personal chart and you have to ask for stamps wherever you pass through, as pointers of your journey. This is the proof you have made the travel on foot (it is possible to go on bycicle, too; or on a horse).

Hay muchas motivaciones por las cuales hacer esto: religiosas, personales, promesas. No importa si eres católico o no, este viaje implica muchas más cosas... Se supone que vas a hacer el viaje con humildad. Hay muchos sitios a lo largo del camino donde permanecer por poco dinero... Pero todo se comparte, incluso los dormitorios.
There are many different motivations to do this: religious, personal, promises... It doesn't matter if you ara a catholic or not, this journey has many more meanings... It is supposed you're going to travel humbly. There are lots of places to stay for just a few euros along the way, but you have to share everything there, even the room to sleep.

Bien, el Jefe planeó esta aventura con un amigo en el mes de abril. Galicia es un sitio frío, pero uno de los más bonitos de España. Caminaron 250 km durante 0 días y pensaron que no podrían terminar por causa de una tendinitis importante en los tobillos y rodillas. Pero al final lo consiguieron.... Con lluvia, frío, nieve... pero sitios y pensamientos maravillosos.
Ok, the Boss planned this adventure with a friend of his in April. Galicia is a cold area, and one of the most beautiful in Spain... They walked 250 km in ten days and they thought they couldn't do it because of serious inflammation of their knee and ankle joints... But they finally did it... Cold, rain, snow, ... but wonderful places and thoughts.
Y qué pasa con la gran concha... Como veis, la concha está en todas partes. Se llama vieira, un tipo de molusco procedente de Galicia. Es un símbolo del camino de Santiago. Los peregrinos la llevaban en sus equipajes, para que todos pudieran ver su condición. Ahora se hace lo mismo. Como símbolo, se ve en todas partes y si sigues las conchas, no te perderás y llegarás al destino.
La concha que enviamos a Pedro fue una de las que el Jefe llevaba consigo, por eso es muy importante para él.
What about the Big Shell. As you can see, the Shell is everywhere. It is called vieira, a kind of mollusc from Galicia itself. It is a symbol of the Camino de Santiago (Santiago's Way). The pilgrims wore one of these shells in their luggages, so that everyone could see they were on a pilgrimage. Now we do the same. As a symbol, it is seen everywhere and if you follow the shells, you won't get lost and will arrive to Santiago.
The Shell we gave to Pedro was one of the shells the Books took with him during his journey. That's why it is so important to him.

Las conchas - The shells

Aquí estamos buscando algunas conchas. Fuimos a una playa cerca de donde vivimos, tuvimos que escoger bien el sitio porque los perros no están admitidos en las playas en todo el país, en cualquier época del año. .. Pero si es una zona a la que los humanos no van... Entonces es cuestión de suerte, que no nos pille la policía. Una mi...! Pero es otra cuestión, entenderéis por qué preferimos ir a los ríos.
Here we are looking for some shells. We went to a beach near the village we live in, we had to select the place carefully because dogs aren't allowed in the beaches all over the country, any time of the year... But if it's an area where humans don't go... Ok, it's a matter of luck, so that we are not caught by the police. What a sh...! But that's another issue, and you'll understand now why we prefer rivers.

Era un día cálido de finales de invierno y el mar estaba tan tranquilo como el Xinver... cuando duerme.
It was a warm late-winter day and the sea was as quiet as Xinver, when he's sleeping...

Nos sorprendió que todas las conchas eran muy pequeñas, ¿qué podíamos hacer?
It was surprising that all the shells we saw were very tiny. What should we do?

Entonces el Jefe tuvo una buena idea. Cogeríamos algunas de estas conchas liliputienses solo para acompañar a una gran concha. Sí, sí, esta es la obra que el Jefe estaba leyendo, qué tipo tan aburrido.
Then, our Boss had a great idea. We would pick up some of these lilliputian shells just to garnish this other big one. Yes, yes, that's the play the Boss was reading, what a boring man he is!

Luego este fue el resultado.
So, this was the result.

Por supuesto, los dos tuvimos que supervisar el paquete.
Of course, the two of us had to supervise the pack.

Y listo. Queremos disculparnos por no haber incluido ninguna golosina (lo sentimos, Pedro) pero no estamos seguros si hay problemas para pasar las aduanas.

Domingo soleado - Sunny Sunday

Hoy nos levantamos pronto (como siempre) y nos gusta salir porque no hace tanto calor. El sol empieza a pegar más y más y nos gustan estas horas del día. Así que fuimos a dar un largo paseo dominguero. Lo primero, Byron marca aquí y allá.
Today, we got up early (as always) and it's good to go out soon because it's not so hot. The sun is heating more and more and we like these hours of the day. So we went to a long Sunday walk. First of all, Byron pee-marked here and there.

An inspection of the battlefield, lest there are any dogs around.

Una vez más (ay dios) Byron quiso coger uno de sus pequeños palitos y llevárselo a casa. Mirad las marcas de sus dientes por todo el tronco.
Once more (oh my dog-god) Byron wanted to pick up one of his little sticks and bring it back home. Look at his teeth marks all over the trunk.

De vuelta a casa vimos a nuestro vecino... Es muy pacífico. Puede no parecer adecuado decirlo pero nos da pena este gran y precioso San Bernardo porque no le dejan entrar en casa nunca y tiene que estar siempre en ese pequeño y aburrido patio, no importa que llueva o haga viento (aunque tiene una caseta). Pero lo peor es que sólo lo sacan a la calle dos veces al día durante 10 minutos. Quizá estemos equivocados (ojalá) pero nos tememos que esa es la cuestión.
Going back we saw our neighbour... He's very calm. It's not fair to tell it but we feel sorry for this big handsome San Bernardo because he's never allowed to be in and he has to stay all day long in that small and boring backyard, it doesn't matter if it rains or it's windy or whatever (ok, he's got a kennel). But the worst is that he's taken out only twice a day for ten minutes. Perhaps we're wrong (we'd love to hope so) but we're afraid this is the matter.

Y bien, tras jugar y correr de lo lindo... y desayunar, aquí estoy cuidando algunos de los libros de mi Jefe... Será tiempo ya de leer algo?
Well, and after playing and running about... and having breakfast, here I am keeping safe some of my Jefe's books... Will it be time to read again?

Fin de semana - Weekend

Sí, al fin es fin de semana. Últimamente hemos estado ocupados. En realidad nuestro Bipe ha tenido mucho trabajo pero en lo que respecta a nosotros... sin palabras. Parece que la primavera está aquí definitivamente, tenemos buen tiempo, sol, buena temperatura pero no calor agobiante como en verano, que es terrible aquí. Nuestro Bipe, además de trabajar, está estudiando en serio Literatura e Inglés. Le gusta y nosotros le dejamos porque si no... ¡es un Bipe muy pesado!
Buen viernes.

Yeah, weekend at last. We've been busy lately. Well, in fact, our Bip has had lots of work but regarding to us... no words. It seems that spring is here to stay, we have nice weather, sun, warm but not too hot (summer temperatures are terrible here). Our Bip, besides working, is seriously studying English Literature and Language. He likes it and we allow him to do it, if not he's such a pain in the neck!
